Final Reflection
Through this module I am now able to view artwork more than just simply "wow,
that's a nice design". Before, I mostly used my feelings in designing, to see
what looks good and what's not to me . Now, I can understand the reason
behind why a design is good or not more clearly and certainly, based on the
rules and principles learnt, not just through feel. From the continuous tasks
each week, where we are encouraged to keep using the theories learnt, I got to
practice thinking and designing with the principles in mind. I become more
used to its application and started to unconsciously incorporate more and more
technical qualities in my designing process. I really enjoyed the
consistent opportunity each week to repeatedly review and deepen my
understanding and knowledge on design principles, as the saying goes "practice
makes progress". I really appreciate how the lecturers are firm, but also
supporting and understanding. One little note I had is that I wished design
principles could be conducted offline (face to face) to make room for
questions and discussions, fitting the targeted students. Individual learning
from online videos and slides personally felt a bit like quarantine all over
again. It also reduces the presence and impact of the lecturers. On the bright
side, this online based study pushes me to be independently discipline and
responsible. Overall, I am quite satisfied with my learning process in this
module.
